A fabulous full service day with catered lunch on the river today with guides Alex and Gary. Who began the day by helping the river keeper and estate staff remove trees blown down by the over night gales to open the road to the river. They had all finally just got a well deserved tea at the hut as the rods turned up.Always a pleasure to welcome old friends back and introduce beginners to the sport. The wind was still a major factor but not quite as bad as Wednesday. The casting lesson amongst blown down twigs and leaves over, they took the 2 novices to a more sheltered carrier. The beginners soon cracked it and accounted for a trout or two each before lunch. The girls from Bea’s catering team did a first class job and such a fine lunch had some rods reluctant to leave the hut. The afternoon saw some more very successful fishing particularly for seasoned rod Rob on the side carrier. The novices also added another fish our two to their tally. The sun had shone and the wind had blown all day but as the last of the guest pulled out of the car park the wind dropped and a huge hatch of small olives started. We left with fish rising all over and the river boiling. Great day.
